Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website
We regularly receive enquiries from patients seeking sedative or tranquillising medication to help them deal with their fear of flying. Taking such medications is potentially dangerous both in terms of the licences for correct use of medication and in terms of invalidating insurances. There have been instances reported in which passengers have had to be removed from flights (with resultant delays) owing to adverse reactions or over-sedation. Prescribing in these circumstances is therefore not recommended and as a Practice we do not feel it would be appropriate for us to prescribe where we consider it dangerous or inappropriate.
There are several good quality fear of flying courses available in the UK which are easily accessible by those who genuinely wish to fly & conquer their fear of flying. Examples can be found by a simple internet search.
