Training

We believe strongly in helping support future generations of General Practitioners and have a strong training ethos at our practice.

GPs in Training

Our practice is approved to train fully qualified doctors who wish to specialise in general practice. Our GP registrars will have had 2-4 years of experience as a qualified hospital doctor working in various specialities. They consult patients on their own, under the mentorship of our GP trainers. Occasionally we ask permission to video a consultation. You will always be asked in advance and are given the option not to take part, and this will not affect your care in any way. No recording will be taken without your consent and the camera will be switched off on request. These videos are used only for educational purposes with the doctor doing the consultation and are destroyed after use.

Medical Students

Medical students are sometimes attached to the practice for 1 – 6 weeks as part of their training.  When booking an appointment our staff will always advise if the appointment is with a medical student, who is always supervised by an experienced GP.  The medical student has longer appointment times to facilitate the extra time needed to discuss your medical issue and also for the supervising clinician to join you in the consultation and complete all that is appropriate.  Sometimes a medical student is sitting in with an experienced clinician, shadowing their clinic.  The clinician will always advise that they have a student with them and will ask you if you are content with this.  If you do not wish a student to be present during your consultation, you are always at liberty to decline this and the student will leave the consulting room.
