St Day Surgery
Update on Services at St Day
Owing to shortage of staff, our branch surgery at St Day currently has limited opening hours but we continue to offer doctor and nursing clinics on Tuesdays. The number of appointments offered are not far short of the numbers which we had previously been providing across the whole week.
Please note we are unable to reinstate receptionist and dispensary staff at the premises at this time, therefore, we will not be able to answer ad hoc queries or dispense any medication from the site. These will continue to be handled from our other sites. There will be clear signage on the premises to direct patients to take a seat in the ground floor waiting room and the doctor or nursing team member will call them when they are ready to consult.
Since Banns have now opened a pharmacy in St Day we shall in due course be prohibited from continuing to dispense as a surgery to patients living within a mile of their shop. We had no notice from Banns that this was imminent and will need to consult on how that is put into effect but we shall post updates to the news section of this website and seek to communicate with patients affected. Meanwhile, we remain immensely grateful to Diane Nankivell, who very kindly continues to accommodate the use of St Day Post Office as a ‘collection point’ for repeat prescriptions for those patients who are exempt from prescription charges. To facilitate this we have a delivery team to transporting medication and collecting repeat requests between the surgery and Post Office, three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please note the Post Office is not able to take any prescription monies and, therefore, those patients who pay for their prescriptions need to collect them from Homecroft for the time being. Additionally, we are not able to send controlled drugs and items requiring refrigeration to the Post Office which again, for the time being, will need to be collected from Homecroft surgery please. Dispensed medication will be in sealed bags with the patient’s name and address ONLY visible on the outside and will be dropped to the Post Office on Mondays.
